The interesting wrinkle being that one of the players involved transferred in from another program after being suspended with an assault charge hanging over him and Altman claims ignorance. Seems clear that if you used employer hiring duties and liability standards (where a hire injures another employee) Altman and the U are cooked on this, but I don't know if we hold universities to such standards regarding student to student violence and propensities for same. Course, the suspension was a red flag and Dana's claim of ignorance may be judged at best negligent, at worst false and in the middle grossly negligent.
