This is kind of following up on the Syracuse hate train. But I was thinking. If you could change the result of 1 college basketball game that is NOT UCONN RELATED (or else we'd probably all pick George Mason) what would it be?

My pick: Texas beating Cuse in 2003 Final Four

Cuse would obviously not have any national titles and I would hope Texas beats Kansas so we would still have more titles than Kansas

And yes, I am bored at work

Had it been a UConn game I would have picked the loss to Duke at the Meadowlands during the 1990 NCAA Tournament. Since I can't pick a UConn game, I will pick the game Duke won vs UCLA 90-81 prior to beating UConn. My hatred for Laettner (and that shot) runs deep and in my time machine I'm preventing him from making it to the Meadowlands at all. No Christian, No shot.

Would have loved to see Mizzou beat UCLA in the Sweet 16 in 1995.

Tyus Edney went Coast to Coast for UCLA to beat Mizzou (at the buzzer).

(ok here is the UCONN angle)This would have put UCONN against Mizzou in the Elite Eight and I have always thought we would have beat Mizzou and advance to our first FF. Instead we get stuck playing UCLA in Cali :(

Would have been fun if Kentucky had lost at some point during the 2012 tournament. Calipari still wouldn't have his championship (thanks in large part to Uconn) and he'd be catching an awful lot of flack.

Butler beatinG Duke in 2010. We have more titles than them, and the great Coach K would have gone 14 years without a title. We have 3 in the same span.

I might pick this, just because of how cool it would have been if Butler had won the title.

Eh, he'd still have two . I don't think they'd be that critical of him.

Good one. And we would have the added benefit of having beaten Butler for the NC the following year.

Ignoring the non-UConn:
Before 1999 the ONLY answer was the 1990 regional final vs Dook.
After there is a compelling argument that it fueled 1999 and 2004 and made those victories sweeter. Whereas we wouldn't have won in 1990 I can live with that loss now.

The one that sticks in my craw is Florida and Donyell's missed free throws. GMason doesn't bother me at all, I can't even remember who Thabeet's team lost to in final four (MichState?) . 2nd place is either Ray's teams losses to Miss St in 96 or to UCLA in 1995 when arguably UConn could have won it all.

That leads to answer to actual question. Wipe out Tyus Edney's miraculous last second run and banker to beat Missouri and UConn wins the 95 title instead of the Bruins. Wait - is that "UConn related". I'd argue whereas UConn is the center of the college basketball universe, all games are tangentially related to UConn so I only needed to change a game UConn wasn't involved in.

Using the change result out of spite to hurt another team without benefitting UConn seems a bit twisted to me, but I would nonetheless consider having Butler beat Dook on Gordon Hayward's shot as that would have replaced NC State over Houston as most dramatic shot to win title.

2006 George Mason beats Florida and holds Donovan to one title. They go on to beat Ucla for the title . Would that make everyone feel better? Probably . Probably Not.

Any Uconn loss, but UNLV's loss to dook takes the cake. The ref's stole that game and gave it to dook. I remeber the officiating was just terrible, UNLV had 4 NBA guys on that team and they were unstoppable, until the refs got involved. That loss propelled dook into the national spotlight.

It would have been one of the all-time great shots in college basketball history.
It would have been THE all-time greatest shot (and up there for all-time in just basketball in general). Hell some people still rank it up there and it didn't even go in.

It's hilarious how some people say that one Cuse game so that they'd have zero titles.

Then you think of how many games Cuse fans probably wish UConn lost
