Well, I'm happy for the kid......but don't forget this is FAU!

He's humble enough to recognize you have to start at the bottom, gain experience, and work your way to the top.

Then again, thank God he wasn't UConn's choice, regardless of pedigree!

Unique decision, yet not entirely shocking given wacko Kiffin's involvement and FAU's reported lack of an AD. However, WTF's the school president thinking? Good luck to the lad, but consider thoughts of offensive assistants, prospective recruits' parents, and 18-23 year recruits and players alike. Maybe Pops Weis is the FAU AU TBD.

Sure, but such a likelihood ignores the previously mentioned considerations.

If he's a prodigy, it may also make him the youngest HC when Kiffin moves on. He has experience many older than him do not for sure.

Weis Jr. worked alongside his father at both Florida, where he was an offensive quality control coach in 2011, and as team manager at Kansas from 2012 through 2014.

The elder Weis told Matt Tait of KUSports.com in 2012 his son taught many of the Jayhawks' offensive graduate assistants "how to break down a game."

"For a kid who could be a spoiled brat, he kind of tries to be as anonymous as he possibly can," he said. "He works with us about 50 hours a week, and then he goes out and takes five classes and 15 hours and gets a 4.0 (grade-point average). What can you say about the kid?"

The younger Weis spent the summer of 2014 as an intern with the New England Patriots and worked under Kiffin as an offensive analyst for Alabama in 2015 and 2016.
Maybe in a case like this if he can get the respect of older assistants, 24 is the new 34 in the coaching world.
