Bridgeport Ranked Worst Vacation Spot In U.S.
Oh man....I was really planning 2 weeks in Bridgeport with the family this July.
Funny list. But hey, Hartford ranks ahead of Boston.
Then again, they've got Akron listed ahead of Pittsburgh.
I didn't see Lincoln, NE anywhere. I've always considered that to be the last city on my "places to visit in US" list.
This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Weather conditions...for summer, has Atlanta at 15 and Boston at 67? Boston is nearly ideal in the summer. I'd probably put it top 5 on this list. I mean, Bakersfield CA, which is the blistering heat of the CA desert, ranks #1. It's just idiotic. Stockton and Sacramento are 2-3. Stockton is a pit and Sacramento has more days over 90 than Phoenix. It's miserable in the summer.
Bridgeport is developing very rapidly. Going the route of Stamford and Norwalk.
Bridgeport is actually not bad, as long as you know the history of the city. It has to be better than most cornfield cities.
Hartford is New England's rising star
I live in Milford - have avoided Bridgeport for much of my time here but it is definitely seeing some improvement. Hopefully Steelpointe pans out and they can build out the harbor a bit. Every time I take the ferry over to Port Jeff I can't help but think of what Bridgeport could be. I can't imagine people come the opposite way on that ferry for anything other than traveling to another part of the state.
In all honesty I like the Black Rock section of Bridgeport over any part of Hartford for night life stuff.
I wasn't gonna post this on it's own, but since you sorta asked for it. Another shooting in Hartford last night. But hey, it had almost been a full week since the last one.
Police Investigate Thursday Night Shooting In Hartford
Hmmm. no mention of shot spotter.
There's someone getting shot or knives basically every night in either Springfield or Holyoke so how bad can Hartford be?
Remember the family walks through Father Panik Village.
Deep, you really need to avoid Chicago. 245 murders already this year. They average a few a day.
I'm with ya on Stockton although I did spend my 21st birthday at The Black Angus there. That said, your numbers are way, way, way, way, WAY off on a Sacramento. They have 66 days over 90 degrees on average and PHX has 177. They aren't in the same stratosphere when it comes temperatures. Sac gets. Nice delta breeze.
I didn't mean that history. I wish I got to see Father Panik. Drove by countless times after it was demolished and eerie it was. That area is being redeveloped.
Bridgeport was a rich town during the Victorian era.
PT Barnum (and friends) built the city. One of the most important and influential figures in post-Revolutionary War American history.
That's not going to create a tourism industry similar to Boston but sure can eventually compete with Providence.
How the heck did Stockton get an AHL team??
Who vacations in Bridgeport?
Once Seaside Park gets cleaned up, etc, that might be possible.
I survived Father Panik a few times. What do you want to know?
It was the scariest place ive ever been, and I have a pretty decent frame of reference.
Heard stories about that place, probably one of the toughest projects in the country at one time.
I live in Stratford. I don't care how much they clean Seaside, no one is ever going to vacation in Bridgeport.
Not in the near future, no. But it is possible down the road, as crazy as that sounds. Used to be a vacation spot before. Black Rock Harbor is ridiculously beautiful and lots of history in the city. Hartford is making a national park out of Colt's factory complex. Besides, the south is infested with red imported fire ants.
20 years ago, Bridgeport was a complete ___hole. I never imagined I'd be saying what I am saying now.
Deepster keeps whining about Hartford. I survived Albany Ave multiple times easily. But in Bridpeport, I had a knife to my neck and was shot point-black by some little Chesire Cat at night with a bb gun. Kid thought it was fun. All I could see was his freaking smile after he tapped my shoulder and I turned around. 3 bbs went in, popped 2 out myself, had to go to the ER to get the last one out. I should mention, Bridgeport had one of the oldest free African American neighborhoods in the country, Little Liberia.

On my part, that was all just for weed. About time they have dispensaries.
