Not many people have ever known "funny" as much as Harold Ramis. He's responsible for Caddyshack, Vacation, Groundhog Day, Stripes, Back to School, Ghostbusters etc. Ramis could do it all whether acting, directing or writing, the man just knew comedy. RIP.

Those movies should be in every guy's top 20 comedies.

Also wrote Animal House.

RIP to Russell Zitsky. Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron.

RIP - he was a talented, funny guy.

I'm surprised that there are only 3 responses tot this thread. Though he did not utter the words himself, Harold Ramis is responsible for the many occurrences of the familiar retort to an easily and unnecessarily offended poster repeated on the Boneyard ("Lighten up, Francis.").

He brought a lot of joy to the lives of anyone in their mid 30's and older. Just look at his list of writing credits: Animal House, Meatballs, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters (I & II), Back to School, Armed and Dangerous, Groundhog Day, and Analyze This (and That): All of them are instant classics. Films don't have to be poignant to be entertaining and if you want to be a well rounded movie viewer, you better have a few of these comedies among the Best Picture nominees every year.

He was even good in his bit parts (Knocked up and As Good as it Gets).

Very talented guy.

I'm 43 and loved his movies growing up.

Not only a GREAT writer but also a really solid comedic actor. Evidence: Ghostbusters.

The first half of Stripes really showed Ramis' and Murray's great comic timing together. Starting with Animal House or Caddyshack (whichever came first) he WAS movie comedy for a great 10+ year run and then kept churning out good ones every few years. I didn't know until today that he did Groundhog Day or that he and Murray had a falling out about it. Big loss in all respects.

Supposedly Harold and Murray patched things up before he passed. Murray's a funny guy but they say he can be pretty grim at times.

Didn't hear they patched things up but I sure hope they did. Murray can be a huge pain in the butt, he's a pretty dark cat. Murray seems to just hate most people, it's probably also what makes him such a brilliant comedic actor.
