Tonight in Phoenix

- Said she has discussed/resolved with her father how he is portrayed in the book.
- Has NOT discussed/resolved with Kim Mulkey how SHE is portrayed in the book (busy playing in China)
- Discussed punching Jordan Barncastle, and consequences
- Has a bet with RG3 on who can throw a football farther, and who can win 1-on-1 at hoops - she thinks he will throw it farther and she will give him a beat-down on the court
- Accepted an invitation from an audience member to consult with an abused gay group in Austin TX
- Was invited by young male audience members to visit their basketball practice and give them some pointers - said, "You wanna get dunked on?"
- Diana has taught her that she didn't know how to practice (all-out on every play)
- Plans to work with Kareem again on technique
- Working in off-season on strength & toughness
- Has found WNBA players, bigger, stronger and smarter than college
- Took selfies in front of 77-foot banner of her likeness in downtown Phoenix
- Told her I was a UCONN fan, and she consoled me and said, "That's OK"
- Introduced everyone to her girlfriend Cherelle, who is stunningly beautiful
- Answered questions from young fashionistas re. where she shops, what brand pants she wears, etc.

Interesting list most should not be surprising. DT could teach practice commitment to most players except others who played at UCONN.

I've always liked her and have followed her since she started at Baylor. Wonder how she would be percieved if she hadn't lost her temper and hit the other girl?

Depends on the one doing the perceiving...many of us are imperfect enough to understand, forgive, and move on.

She said she had to go to anger counseling after smacking Barncastle, and that the counseling was really really good - helped her cope with lots of baggage, deal with it better.

I really hope that DT and BG and team up for a successful season. There seemed to be some major issues with that team last year as it seemed like a lot of individual play with lots of shots jacked up less than 10 seconds into the shot clock. It was the "cross the mid cout line and shoot" offense.

I love these comments from the SI interview, especially that she does not consider herself one of the game's great players and wants to become better. She still has more upside than almost any player in the WNBA and she is pretty darn good already. I REALLY hope that we get to see EDD and Stewart on the Olympic team with BG. Those are three players that could carry us to gold for years to come.

SI.com: How important is one day playing for the U.S. Olympic team?
Griner: Very, very important. It is something I am going to pursue. It's the biggest stage you can play on.

SI.com: What kind of ceiling do you think you have as a player?
Griner: I think I can be great. If I can keep working hard and dedicate my time to getting better in the offseason and during the season, I can be one of the game's great players.

Already bought it on my Kindle and starting it tonight.

I had it on my kindle already when I heard about the signing event, so then I had to buy a hard copy in order to get in. Now my wife thinks I'm nuts about BG 'cuz I bought 2 books - sigh....

I'm with ya on that. For all the crap she has had to endure.. I'm done with the whole Barncastle thing myself. For a 17-18 year old kid that's a lifetime ago. She's a great player and role model. Wish her and her team nothing but the best, and I'm sure Geno will want her on his team.

I am not in love with her crashing this finals week with her book. Know why she did, still don't like it. Question for her: When you going to stop whining about it and get on with it. Who are you going to be this season? Get it on Girl.

PS. Gotta daughter who is gay. Could not love her more.

I've been looking forward to this book. Haven't read it yet but I'm going to be traveling out of town soon, so I'll get it before I leave so I have something to read on the trip.

I thought it was the perfect time...she has every right to tell her story, or whine, as you put it. Good for you having a gay daughter that you love...guess that means you've walked a mile in Brittney's shoes, right?

At the start of the FF she was in Phoenix at a parade and towards the end she was in NYC doing a book signing...so not sure how much time she spent in Nashville. I only saw her once, just walking around.

Telling your story does not constitute "whining." She is doing great work for the "No Bullying" campaign and telling her story is part of that. She said the she is telling her story in hopes that she can help other young people who feel like outcasts because they are different, or gay.

If I were the father of a gay child I would be thankful that she is willing to share her story. Unless you are gay I don't think you can understand how isolated you feel as a child. Many feel hopeless, which is why gay teens attempt suicide at a much higher rate than straight kids.

I don't have to worry about that, my wife knows I am straight out of the box nuts.
