The JI sponsored the Randy Smith track meet at Manchester High....and the state has a few
national level athletes.
Junior Sydnee Over from Windsor High won the 400 and 800 and ran a leg in the 4 by 400 relay...set a couple of meet records. Here's hoping she and junior Precious Holmes [New Haven]
tangle in the state open in early June at Willowbrook in New Britain.
Senior Daniel Jamieson [Windsor] had a great meet...won the 100 in 10.57...the 200 in 21.08...both meet records and helped his team win the 4 by 100 as well. UConn seems very much in the mix for him and he says that he will go to some school that offers him a full scholarship....Columbia being in the mix indicates some serious brain power to boot. I suspect UConn tends to divvy up its allotment but I hope they have a full one for Daniel....plus a couple next year for Sydnee and Precious. Jamieson's times are getting close to elite national level stuff.
There are some all-star type meets in mid-June in the south....would be nice to see Ct.'s best focus on just one race and see how they compare to the nation's very best....nothing held back for other later races in the day.
