OT: Google Gemini / AI Studio | The Boneyard

OT: Google Gemini / AI Studio

I tried a few test questions. Still a little dumb. I once talked to a very advanced Navy computer researcher. He was modeling wave studies with AI. He said AI shouldn't stand for artificial intelligence, it should stand for autistic intelligence. While neither is a perfect description, it is helpful to think of AI in that way. It is very difficult to communicate with AI on some many levels.

Sounds like a garbage in garbage out situation. They’re only as good as they’re programmed.
It was apparently trained on data from the boneyard…

But in an attempt to bring this thread back on the rails, the realtime video narration was the part I found impressive.

Hey, Gemini isn't the only one who is confused about who Tom Emery is.
True, the US Marshall service hasn't been able to track him down yet.

I asked Gemini if I could go ice-skating on the lake. He told me, ‘Wait til it gets warmer.’

It still seems like these open to the public AI algorithms are good for general questions but fail miserably if you wanted something technical or precise. Even for general info I'd trust Wikipedia over any of these AI programs.

It blows my mind that universities are worried about students copying/pasting AI answers in to academic papers. Seems like a seasoned academic professional could flesh out the fakes easily.
