I'm supposed to meet my mother and some other family who are traveling through the state and we picked the Glastonbury area as sort of central. We are meeting for some lunch or that is sort of the loose plan. Anything unique, interesting and good in that area that anyone could recommend? I'm over on the NY border so I'm not familiar with that area. Thanks!

Max Fish and Max Amore are easy off and on from the exit off rte 3 going over the bridge, but I've never been as big a fan as others. Probably my failing because most people like them. I go to Angelo's on Main St. about a half mile south of rte 3 in a small plaza. Greek owned Italian food and likely quiet at the lunch hour. I'll be there towards happy hour 4-5pm if your lunch is a late lunch I'll buy a round, ask for Ricker. The Diamond is a sports bar with outside seating if desired and a good menu. Hebron Ave exit 8 off of rte 2, then right turn 1/2 mile on the right. That is where you can get your free drink on Sunday afternoon for the Giant's game.

all these places listed are very good, and also all basically right next to each other on Hebron Ave.

Birch Hill Tavern on Rt 83 (Manchester Rd) near the intersection of Hebron Ave. Excellent food and draft beer. Tell the manager I sent you.

Now I have not been to The Diamond in a while (I grew up in the area) but if it's the same as the last time I went there about 7-8 years ago you're really recommending a "nice" lunch at The Diamond? LOL

I am going on someone elses word. But I was told that The Diamond recently got a new chef and the food has been improved dramatically.

Good to know. Thanks. It used to be a divey type place. Figures it's in Glastonbury so they went upscale on us.

Luna Pizza is very solid. One of the better pizza places I have been to in CT.
When done right, no one else competes. I go to the one in Avon (actually just went there today...and yesterday). Unfortunately with new owners, it's hit or miss. But one of their cooks has continued their tradition of the best pizza in the state at least when he is there.

I've had Luna's several times and while good it is nowhere near the best in the state.

If you're in glastonbury, it's the best in the area. Nothing touches the Pepe's in NH. The one at the casino is fine, but commercialized.
