9. They never returned.
10. Phillip II of Spain
11. Ken Norton

7. United Artists
11. Joe Frazier
13. F Murray Abraham is Salieri, the other rivals ???.

13. F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce. Salieri and Wolfie.

4. Lead a card toward a hand void of that suit. If the next player goes high, ruff. If not, let it ride.
6. Bud Collyer

1..80K

10..Spain

11..Ken Norton

13..F. Murray Abraham played Salieri and Tom Hulce played Motzart

1..A paper in BMJ estimated 80k, which eclipses the most since records were kept by around 25%.

2..I assume husbands can no longer kill wives who have been adulterous.

3..I'm not sure what you're looking for, but snowy owls are not faring well with climate change. We've had one or two in the DC area during several of the recent winters

4..As declarer you lead a suit dummy is out of. If left-hand opponent covers, you ruff in dummy, if not, you let it ride.

8..Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Thanks to my beautiful wife)

11..Ken Norton

12."Red is green and yellow white, but we decide which is right, and which is an illusion," Moody Blues, the closing lines of Days of Future Passed. (I think they may be in the spoken part of the intro, too.)

13..F. Murray Abraham and ??

7. I want to say Sony although I'm sadly hazy on all that. Still pretty sure Sony (which owned my then employer, Loews, for a time) at some point had Columbia in the fold.

3..Big, I'm distinguishing weather from climate. A heavy rain is a calamity for 2 reasons(?).

5..As they sing the same song. Think shackles.

9..Bama, if you know the song, it's a facile guess about the Englishman. What know you about Cabot?

I know he sailed off from England with a fleet of ships and never returned. Speculation was that the fleet was lost at sea. That was easy!

1. 80k?
4. Making a strong lead towards a partner's void, hopefully forcing the finessed defender to choose whether to cover the lead or not. If there is a cover, the partnership throws a trump. If no cover than it discards.
7. Sony
9. They never returned?

5..Still drawing a blank? "Why in the world would anybody put chains on me?"

5. Late ,but I'm Easy was performed by both artists. However, I do not believe the lyrics are the same in both versions. I do not recall the chains /captivity/shackles in Carradine's version

You're right, but Keith is wary about "putting bars on his insides". And they are 2 different tunes.

1..Cajun, rocket and game, between sneezes, rightfully go for the biggest number.

2..Bama with the essence.

3..Water off a duck's back? Not the case with the wise one. The very type and arrangement of feathers that allow for silent flight don't repel water. His soggy flying is labored and his keen hearing can't pick up rodents scurrying amidst the storm noise.

4..Waq & Big & game needed to add that you are betting that the 4th player does not have the winning card.

6..As ed4 notes, it was Welles.

7.."Hazy" is a natural outcome of coping with Arizona heat, but miraculously it did not steer Knight wrong.
Game is clear eyed.

8..If this be a spelling bee, Big has all the right letters, as he once had all the right moves to win a trophy maiden.

9..The Brits were late to the New World party, where the French, Dutch and Spanish were having a plunderous high time. It did not help the English that Cabot provided no info.

10..Cajun & Bama cite the place where rain falls on the plain.

11..Bama, rocket & Big are on target with Norton.

12..Actually, folks, those closing words have a title, Late Lament.

13..Meyers and rocket perform the task.
