We need 3, 5, 7, 11 yet, but there's so few of you present, that I'll just hold things over awhile.

3. The Searchers " I saw her today, I saw her face..."

4. Louisiana?
6. Oliver Twist. (I have a vague feeling that one of the boys in
Nicholas Nickelby was punished for saying something similar)
9. The Somme.

1. I would guess the 1840s
4. Tennessee
6. Oliver Twist
7. Ole Robert Lee - one of the great blues guitarists - along with Muddy Waters and Lightnin Hopkins

3. The Searchers
5. Kyrgyzakstan
7. Blues singer/guitarist

..Really hard to escape the TV today. Nevertheless...

1..VTC & geordi posit the 1840's . They will be delighted with the win.

2..Knight & Meyers got the music clue--More than a Feeling by Boston.

3..Brit group The Searchers on Needles and Pins--Bezz & Best.

4..Over Volfans objections, though. VTC & geordi.

5..Kyrgyzastan says Best.

6..An orphan speaks in Oliver Twist--ed4 plus 3.

7..VAUC, that is Ambrose. R.L. is a blues singer, known by geordi & Best.

8..See geordi who is most complete. VAUC adds Jack Webb

9..The Somme, stated by ed4 & VTC.

10..Yup, VAUC, 1952

11..Not just a BBC production, Best, but real women inundating farms (especially) to help out in WWII.

12..VAUC is right about Alaska and 13..Earth Wind & Fire.

Some more trivia: The British group, The Searchers, took their name from the classic 1956 Western, "The Searchers" starring John Wayne. While attending that movie, Buddy Holly took note of the fact than Wayne repeated the line "That'll be the Day." The rest, as they say, is rock & Roll history.

BTW, other than the Beatles, The Searchers were the only other British group of that era to issue their albums in stereo. (Remember mono.)

So here's another trivia question: without looking it up, how many hits by the Searchers can you name. ( Hint: they had 11 charted records, not counting "Sweets for my Sweet" and "Sugar and Spice", which were their first big hits in England.)

Some accuse me of being too obscure, but not THAT obscure.

I forgot to mention that The Searchers were one of my favorite groups, along with the Dave Clark Five.
