Of course, Gene wasn’t really “mean.” I grew up in the same MN hometown as the Okerlunds and attended high school with his sons, both of whom were outstanding prep hockey players. One went on to play in the NHL. Mr Okerlund was a kind, down to earth, great dad. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
