This is how your justice system works.
A woman who has a sexual interaction with you is angry that you didn't respond/follow up/call her.
You are charged with kidnap and rape.
Your attorney advises you to take a plea bargain. You plead no contest and do 6 years hard time.
Why?
Here's why. Here's how your justice system works. Let me know if you think it's a good system.
For every 100 guys who are accused of the crime this guy did, every one gets a plea offer.
98 guys take it.
2 don't.
The 98 who take it do 6 years, zero risk.
What happens to the 2 who don't take it?
1 gets acquitted and walks. 1 gets convicted and sent to prison for 41 years.
So why did the guy take the plea? Because the 50/50 risk of going to jail until you're an old man is a monumental risk that most won't take when the alternative is a relatively short 6 years in the slammer.
The point of my post is this - the 98 guys who take the plea and do 6 years represent what "justice" thinks you should do for jail time for committing the crime charged. It's a scam. Clearly, we, as a society, are OK with the rape/kidnapping being pleaded out to a 6 year jail sentence, or they would force DAs to change the way they do business for 98 of the guys who take the plea.
So what about the 41 year sentence? Well, that's the giant stick they hold over your head to threaten you into taking the plea. You see, if it was 6 years if you take the plea, but 8 or 10 if you don't, then nobody would take the plea - especially the innocent ones. So the way the law works is that the punishment if convicted is almost 7 times more severe than the plea, if accepted, and that way, even the innocent ones take the plea, because being right, and innocent, while doing 30 to life up the river is a moral victory most don't want.
It's a scam and it's immoral.
Soap box moralizing over.
This woman admits that she lied and put this guy in prison for 6 years and got 1.5 million for her story. She should be put in jail for the rest of her life, no chance of parole, for what she did. If I was the guy, I'm not sure I could stop myself from ------- her.
