Soccer to you US of Aers. Captive coaches exist in highly played professional sports (ala LeBron and any coach of His team), but it is rarely so starkly demonstrated as this??

"Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga stunned a capacity crowd at London's Wembley Stadium and left his manager fuming Sunday when he refused to be subbed off in the late stages of extra time in the English League Cup final against Manchester City.
With the two sides locked in a goalless draw, Kepa received treatment on his hamstring and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri summoned backup Willy Caballero to take his place for the forthcoming penalty shootout.

There was just one problem: Kepa, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper after joining Chelsea in August for 80 million euros (then $93 million) from Spanish club Athletic Bilbao, would not withdraw."

My understanding is that the coach (Sarri) is a lame duck and is ridiculed for his general acumen and temperament

It's a tough and very unusual situation. Chelsea has been a mess recently, but they actually played pretty well against Man City.

Be interesting to see if Kepa plays next game....or again. Or if Sarri is done.

For US fans, our next "Superstar" (Christian Pulisic) is transferring into this mess this summer. :(

his actions might have been forgiven if he made the stops to win the game....................he didn't..............
