With the gourmet burger craze has come all sorts of monstrosities with a bunch of different topping for your burgers. I find that good beef shouldn't need a bunch of other flavor enhancers and often times they mask the beef flavor.

If it's truly great beef all I want is cheese on top and a little ketchup and mustard or whatever house aioli they are using. Most times all I want on my burger is cheese and pickles but I also love grilled onions. I do enjoy the mushroom and swiss combo and the bacon and blue combo if I'm doing extra toppings. In most cases a burger shouldn't need any other meat on top of it though.

Ketchup, cheese and pickles if I'm just doing the basics. Maybe spicy mustard too.

Plus bacon, lettuce and tomato if I'm going fully dressed.

Fried egg, fried onions, jalapenos, mushrooms, truffles, avocado if we're getting fancy.

My basic is ketchup, mustard, lettuce tomato red onion. I add bacon and cheese sometimes to that mix.
Last week I made burgers and topped them with Mozz, tomato, basil and balsamic vinegar. They were awesome. Even my 5 year old liked them.

My standard go-to is bacon, cheese, and mayo, although I like grilled onions instead of mayo sometimes. Blue cheese is amazing, sometimes I'll go with that but usually it's cheddar. Finally, a fried egg on a burger is really Scalitoing good.

Standard backyard toppings-. Lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mustard.

Kickin' up a notch- Avocado is great. Bacon and eggs are great too.

Almost went full heart attack last week - contemplated adding Mac and cheese and pulled pork on top.

Things I won't ever put on a burger- mayo, mushrooms or onions.

Things that stay on the burger where God intended them. So no slippery like sautéed mushrooms.

That's the only downside to loaded up burgers, they turn into casseroles pr

Butter lettuce, one thin slice of tomato, raw onion rings (2-3), a thin coating of mayo on the bottom of the toasted bun, one or two circles each of ketchup and yellow mustard. I prefer a pickle spear on the side. Maybe bacon, maybe. Oh and cheese, as long as it's had proper time to melt through.

Eggs, avocado, grilled onions and mushrooms, guac, etc. Things like that make the burger a little too unwieldy and almost always sloppy.

My go to is: ketchup, mayo, American cheese, pickles, bacon.

Willing to branch out when the mood strikes. :)

Black and Blue type great

Either blue cheese crumbles and mushrooms or BC crumbles and bacon

Sautéed onions can be good too

A lot of the already mentioned toppings are great. My choice tends to heavily depend on mood, but one underrated item that hasn't been mentioned yet: New Mexican hatch chilies. The flavor pairs exceptionally well with ground beef.

Another topping I like is sweet peppers pickled. Similar to the giardina.

I didn't realize how many 12 year olds are on this board. I'll use Ketchup in a pinch (i.e. no BBQ option), but it is by no means a necessity.

Bacon, spicy BBQ sauce, cheese, sliced red onion, and Toasted (or grilled) bun.

Thin, crispy fried onions, I believe they go by "onion straws" or something, taste like onion rings but look like spaghetti. Epic burger topper.
