When I was about 10-12 I got him a double album that had probably 25 or so of the original recordings from the 20's and 30's. So I was used to 2-3 minute Ellington recordings. This album was one of the first, if not the first time a jazz big band was able to do "concert" arrangements of 10-15 minutes.
