Interviewing Colin Kaepernick's birth mom on sportcenter seems so out of bounds to me. Curious to see what others think if they saw the interview on sportscenter.

Is that really the medium to talk about your birth son, who you gave up for adoption (to a great family it seems, to her credit) and have no contact with (by his choice)?

Surely to be published by a Disney owned publishing house, synergy man synergy.

they did the same thing with Shaq years ago. disgusting

I don't know the story, but is this ESPN's or the mother's initiative?
Either way, it's low, however, it could be the mother chasing fame and fortune.

Even if it's the mother, they don't have to give her the forum.

Rick Reilly championed this story during the Super Bowl and it absolutely disgusted me. His thinking was that he has an adopted daughter and when she met her birth mother it was wonderful, therefore, Kap and all other adopted kids should do the same. It was an absolutely asinine, self righteous position and made me want to punch him in the throat. This is a very personal decision for every adopted kid and Reilly and espn should get their noses out of people's personal decisions.

And the mother who actually raised him, benefits how from this? Shame ESPN for focusing on the wrong mother.

To be fair, it sounds like the birth mother and the adoptive parents are on good terms relative to the whole thing (they attended a pre-season game together at some point). And the aforementioned book was something the birth mother said she was writing before Colin was in the NFL and hasn't touched recently.

Don't really have a more extensive opinion on the issue.

Where did you see that? Id be surprised if it was true as Colin has never spoken with his birth mother.

PS. My understanding is that Kap's folks sent pics and letters for the first few years of his life and then his birth mother asked them to stop because it was too painful. That, apparently, was the last communication between them.

A mother who truly cares for her son doesn't go on a PR blitz like this.
