At my age my wife and I watch a lot of TV, especially Huskies games, men and women. It seems that the commercials are getting longer and more obnoxious, especially on the streaming channels. I can get by most, but right now there are a number of them that want me to scream at the TV and walk away. How do you guys feel, the same? Just to list a couple for me, and there are others, but these two drive me crazy to the point that my TV may be in danger.
1- Keven Hart and his Draft King slots.
2- Anderson Windows, and that woman commentator whose voice makes my skin curl.
LOL, I'm sure I am overreacting, but believe me, I don't need to hear at my age that I have to download a slots game, and I don't give a dam about getting new windows. How about you guys, any that drive you crazy?

AFLAC but that might be because of the star of the commercial. 😁

Pretty tired of Limu Emu and Doug. I'm not sure how some add campaigns go on for as long as they do, when it was never clever or entertaining to start with.

Adds during streaming is so bad to begin with. How did that start? Streaming was add free. Then they made it an upcharge to be able to watch without commercials.

Just record the first 30 minutes or so of the game and then start watching. Fast forward through the ads and halftime babble and you'll usually be pretty close to live by the end of the game.
I can get all but the Peacock games from my cable package and always record and come into the game a minimum of a 45 minutes after tip-off. The goal is no commercials or half time show. Since recording streaming broadcasts isn't an option it is much better now than when almost all the BE games were streamed on Fox Sports. Of course I am missing a handful of games on Peacock as I haven't subscribed. For those I depend on BY to keep me informed of how the team looked.

As far as commercials, some are pretty good, most range from forgettable white noise to just plain annoying. I'd dearly love to outlaw big Pharma pitches. For the most part I read or work on a crossword puzzle when commercials are on.

What frustrates me is that I often pay extra for “ad free” only to find that many of the shows still have ads! Of course, my other gripe is that you cannot fast forward through the commercials. On the bright side, they are bringing back “The Most Interesting Man in the World”. (Dos Equis) It would be somewhat more bearable if the commercials were any good of course. Why did they quit the old Clydesdales, the Bud frogs/lizards, the old Henry Weinhard ones where they were trying to smuggle beer into “Oreegon”?

Scrolling on my phone while commercials play. One nice thing about streaming is they will usually have a countdown in the upper corner so you can tell how long the commercials are/when they'll be over. Can't really think off hand of any that really annoy me OR any I really like. Just don't pay enough attention I guess.

There are a couple of bright spots, IMHO, and they both involve dogs. The first is Progressive, whose ads involving Flo and company have gotten a little stale. Their new one "It's the dog park," I find to be really funny and (as a regular dog park-goer) really real. No message except they now offer pet insurance.

The other is very different, but equally good. It opens with the song by the Troggs (remember them?) "I want to spend my life with a girl like you," and the viewer expects to see a boy-girl themed commercial, but no. It's a guy with his dog, and it's a commercial for The Farmer's Dog. The bandleader's voice is really whiny and annoying (yup, that was the Troggs, all right), which only calls more attention to the ad.

that's just the beginning. every opportunity to extract more $ from us is only going to get worse. the internet has certainly doubled down on that.

concerning disgusting commercials -- there are many others that are merely annoying -- the leader of the pack for me is the "aren't we all such admirable, macho bro-boys" pitches. they are especially prevalent with automakers and typically feature speeding cars with screaming engines and stupidly dangerous driving. aren't we great is the message. jerks.

THAT supposedly is what appeals to motorists these days??? heaven help us.

Some are funny but get stale really quick. Tom Brady getting tackled by Grandmom made me chuckle the first time I saw it.

The ads are essential - bladder relief and snack/beverage refills. Its the curse of the golden years (oh and there doesn’t seem to be any gold)
Ah the golden years. Need to cut down on the snack/beverage refills. I'm already threatening the seams of my clothes. There is plenty of gold, but at upwards of $5000 an ounce, I can't afford any.

Don't know if it's still the case, but last month I was able to get Peacock for $2.99/month for 6 months as follows:
1. Take their "7 days free" offer, create an account.
2. Watch a bit of the Peacock stream.
3. Sign into your account on your PC.
4. Cancel the subscription.
5. See $2.99/mo offer
6. Shazam!

I hate all the pharmaceutical ads. Are there really that many people out there with these maladies, that we have to be constantly reminded to "ask your doctor about . . ."? Bring back the laundry detergent ads from the soap opera days.
After hearing all the side effects they have to mention,....I'm usually like, yeah I think I'd just rather have the disease.

The mute button is your friend. ;^)

So very tired of all the med adds that list enough side effects to choke a horse. Seems like the side effects are worse than the original problem. Almost as bad as we can cure your pimples, but you will end up with anal leakage. Enough please.

I've been married for quite some time, and have raised a few kids, I can mute anything, anytime without a button.
So true. 50 years married. Raised 3 boys. Plenty of noise around the house. I can tune out the commercials, the vast majority being terrible.

Unfortunately, many years ago studies proved that the ads you hate are more effective than the ones you like or the ones you feel neutral towards. It seems that the louder, the more repetitive, the more obnoxious the ad, the more stuff it sells. And it's been that way for a very long time.

Think back now. How many of you actually switched products based upon a commercial? Have you switched to Progressive because you were impressed with a commercial featuring Flo? Have you bought a new Toyota because you impressed with Jan? Have switched toilet paper because an animated bear told you it was more absorbent? Have you ever asked you doctor to switch medications? Unless it was a brand new product, I have never switched products based upon a commercial. Am I in the minority?

I for the most part think advertising doesn't work. It gets their name out there, but like you I don't think my purchasing choices are driven much by what I see on tv.

Ha, you think you had it tough? I had 3 girls, plus a wife, and a dog who had been fixed. I was clearly outnumbered.

The med adds that don't make it clear what they are trying to treat but that warn you not to take it if you're allergic and one of the side effects is death.
