OT Dark Web

I keep hearing about the Dark Web and have wondered what is it. Has anyone accessed and browsed the Dark Web. Is it safe? What types of information is found on the Dark Web? Is the General Web user missing something by not going on to the Dark Web?

There is a long article on the Deep Web at How Stuff Works. I heard about it mostly in connection with drug dealing on the Silk Road website and the capture of the Dread Pirate Roberts after he arranged a hit on an employee to cover his activities. Every evil form of commerce is available on the dark web using the supposedly anonymous Tor browser. Based on what I see of the surface web, I will opt to leave the rest to the criminals, terrorists and political dissidents.

By the way, the Planet Money podcast did a really interesting episode on the Dread Pirate Roberts saga.

Since posting the question, I have found this Documentary on YouTube and in the process of watching it now.

It is about Dread Pirate Roberts, a name I had not heard of until starting to watch this video.
