Amazing how the Knicks fortunes have changed in just a few weeks. It was all smiles for D'Antoni until Carmelo came back, feels badly for the next coach who has to deal with Carmelo and Dolan.

It's mind-boggling ... how can a player of Carmelo's caliber effect a team like this? It's pretty evident it's Carmelo now, right?

Find out soon, but the short answer is yes.

That's too bad. I was not a huge fan of his system (actually liked the offense, just hated the lack of defense), but when Melo was out and Lin was in it was pretty clear that the system can work very well, especially with a Lin-type point guard. I guess it came down to Melo or D'Antoni, and Melo won. Oh well, the Lin story was a nice little diversion for a few weeks there. Without that type of system, and with Melo in control, Lin's days have got to be numbered, too. I suspect Davis will start getting more minutes immediately.

Syracuse fans seem pretty negative towards Melo over this. If Melo did not carry them to a NC would they even like him?

There was an espn.com article today that said D'Antoni would tell Lin to run the pick-and-roll offense - which calls for Carmelo to keep the floor spread and spot up on the wing - and Carmelo would just disregard it, plant himself in the midpost, and call for the ball.

one of the NY papers quoted a source today saying that Melo wants to be traded by tomorrow's deadline....LOL....the Knicks sold the farm to get him. Melo is tweeting that it's not true. Who the hell knows??? He just always seemed like a guy that is never happy and has an attitude about being "the man" even with the shortcomings his game has.....just my opinion...

It's letting the inmates run the asylum. The Knicks picked Carmelo over D'Antoni, Stephen A. Smith was just on talking about the Knicks whole problem is Jeremy Lin. Knicks were 8-1 with Lin and no Carmelo, 10-23 with Melo. Carmelo is an absolute cancer, he's a horrible teammate that just holds the ball in the high post for 10 seconds before he forces a shot, the defensive end of the floor is even worse. It's insane to bank your whole team on Carmelo, not only is he a cancer and vastly overrated but he's simply not the same player he was 2 years ago, he has lost all his explosiveness. I cursed the trade for Melo when it happened, knew it would be a disaster. James Dolan makes me very angry.

Guess the Howard for Melo trade isn't going to happen.

This is an indirect mojo effect. Knicks now put the full court press on John Calipari, which becomes a HUGE distraction this tournament.

for whaterver its worth, Calipari is on twitter saying he loves being UK's coach and why would he ever want to leave...why would he even address that now? I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks go after him this summer.

He said that? He is clueless if he feels that way.
I agree with you. But it's a superstars' league. You want access, you play up the superstars.

Love It! Let me be the first to say that my sources tell me that Calapari to the Knicks is a done deal.

Would you accept this trade? Calimari gets a NC this year but he then leaves college bball forever.

Steven Smith is a racist. Calipari is the devil and the UK fans will get what they deserve.
