Tragically, he was murdered on the street [Van Wyck Expressway] after flashing a wad of cash at a bar in his hometown of Jamaica, Queens. I consider Shep to be the top lead singer of the doo wop era alongside Richard Blandon (Dubs), Willie Winfield (Harptones), Rudy West (Five Keys), Bobby Lester (Moonglows) and Jimmy Beaumont (Skyliners) Top Girls' group(s): Chantels and The Angels [/QUOTE]
