I live outside Boston and drove to Mohegan Sun yesterday to meet up with some friends. We were at Michael Jordan's Sports Bar for drinks and to watch the game. They have 14 huge TVs - none of which had the UCONN game. I asked the bartender to change it and she could only put on ESPN Goal Line with highlights because "no one wants to see the UCONN game." WTF is that? I assumed there would be more fans of the state football team.

I would have asked to talk to the manager.

You gotta win, or at least be interesting.

If Alabama was ranked #112 for several years, you could go into a bar in Birmingham and probably see no TV's showing the Crimson Tide.

The game was not listed on Optimum in Fairfield County. It was on ESPN News which was listed as Goal Line.

Doubtful

Kind of off topic but, my biggest problem with the movie Forest Gump (a great movie by the way) is when he is getting on the bus to go into the army. No way a bunch of guys from Alabama treat an All American Football player from Alabama that way.

That happened yesterday? Unfortunately, the new state law with harsher hate crime punishments just went into effect today...

Seriously though, sounds like your bartender was just a lazy punk, sorry you had to experience that.

I only caught one play on my phone. Nice drive to the 2 then it’s two handoffs to Hopkins for nothing then Shirreffs is sacked on third, then a delay of game and we end up holding our breath on a Tarbutt 33 yd kick on what should have been a sure 6.

I would have made sure he put the game on if I am paying money to eat and drink there, period.

Totally - either you give them a $20 to not be an idiot or you threaten the manager a drink and dinner tab over it.

Yeah not completely shocked UConn football isn’t moving the needle at Mohegan Sun. It doesn’t even move the need at the actual stadium.

The casinos are full of a lot of people from Mass and RI too. Between the team being bad for so long, the mixed bag of people at the casino and all the gamblers watching scoreboards more so than the actual games, I'm not surprised.

We aren't going to get the kind following one would hope until we start winning. Most fans are front runners and they only want to be seen at the games when it is cool to be there. UConn fans have seen a ridiculous amount of winning, so they are terribly fickle about supporting a weak product. It's good and bad. If you could sell out arenas with a terrible product, no one would try to get better.

The biggest rebuild in this program is of the fan base. This was a program going into it's infancy that had their conference pulled out from underneath them. Coupled that with an unimaginative hire, followed by a disastrous hire and straight up miserable, unappealing football, and here we are.

But they look fun, and we know Edsall could run a program, but it will take time both on the field and in the stands.

I certainly wouldn't tip that ass of a bartender.

I was at J. Timothy's in Plainville on Saturday. The bar TV had Mich St. vs. Iowa and the balcony TVs had four different games on. My wife and I often go to J. Tim's to watch away games and we have to ask them to put it on every time.

My server happily threw on the UCONN game for me and it was reflected in his tip!

Had to ask it be put on at Slider's Berlin. Ch 207 DirecTV. Espn News. (The equally ugly step sister of CBSSN)
Not many people there and maybe 1 other person besides my wife and I that were watching. Used the
HC ticket for free wings, coupon on back. Don't forget about that. 60 day expiration from game

That was me. I left at the end of the 3rd quarter because my neck was killing me watching at an angle.

Exactly why I would have asked to see the manager. I would have have give the bartender a choice. 1) Turn the game on; 2) Call over the manager so they can see what 3 hours of food and drink looks like walking out the door.

In a manner of speaking, The OP is the excepion that disproves the bartender's response, so long as it went down as written).

"I can put it on Goal line. No one wants to watch UConn."

"I want to watch UConn."

Then state that ESPNNews would be fine (Comcast TV guide had Goal Line on ESPNN at 4:00. I had to DVR Goal Line and extend the recording by 3.5 hours to ensure I got the entire game.).

On a somewhat related note, I was at a Friday's in my town on Saturday and saw a woman with a UConn sweatshirt, #58. Turned out to be Jonathon Louis's mom. I was sure it was a sign of good luck, especially at 28-28. Then the fourth quarter came along......

@whaler11 Are the sliders wings still legit? Haven't been to one in probably 5 years but felt like I was at one of them every few weekends from like 09-13

I got the boneless angry bbq. They are still pretty good don't think they have changed at all but the Berlin restaurant is odd. It's the worst one of the lot.

Good to know. I used to mainly go to the one in Plainville. In my opinion the bone in wings were some of the best in CT.

I do a monthly meet up with buddies to eat and rate wings in NYC. We're up to 34 straight months. Sliders would stack up very well with most of the joints down here.

DirecTV had Goal Line listed in the guide at 4:00 as well.

He is probably right... Honestly nobody cares about UConn football other than us maniacs

It doesn't matter if he is right. With the number of TVs at Cafe 23, there is overlap, and you can literally see them all from anywhere in the bar area.

If they had the capability, one should have been switched.
