OT: COVID-19 Among BYers

Saw this idea on another board and thought there may be benefit and sharing experiences on here.

How is everyone on here doing? As far as myself, I do not think I have it but am still isolating as much as possible. I have two friends who I'm pretty sure have it but neither has been tested despite reaching out to their doctor multiple times.

Isolating - working from home and only making the occasional trip to the grocery store and beer runs. Fortunately no panic buying of beer - so supplies are plentiful.

Working from home... working in the yard... going for hikes in Connecticut's wonderful preserves and parks... minimizing and consolidating trips out.

Has anyone noticed how clear the skies are? The only time in the past I've seen it like this was just after 911. Air traffic leaves contrails that usually build into high clouds... little or no air traffic, clearer skies.

I've seen a picture of the Corona virus and it looks scary. It's a ball with little spikes on it. The only balls I want to see right now are basketballs and baseballs.

Job shut down starting the 18. Staying home except the grocery store. Walking a lot though. Hope everyone is healthy and safe

Substitute wine for beer, and that pretty much describes my life right now. Hubby is also working from home, but sharing "office space" is going better than I thought it would.

My wife and I are hunkered down, doing a lot of walking and face timing frequently with our son, his wife and our 15 month old grandson, who we do puppet shows for.

We are isolating more than usual. That's not too difficult in a rural spot with few neighbors. One grocery run a week, for our household and a friend who just had a knee replaced. The multi-lingual puns are flying fast and furious. No symptoms of anything but age, so far.

First week of January I got what I thought was the Flu. First time in about 20 years. Wife came down with it a few days later. I got better went back to work for 3 days and started coughing. Never coughed that bad nearly threw up. Did strain muscles. Went to see the Dr. on the 2nd day. In March I pretty much quit clearing crap out of my lungs.

Wife's experiences was same as mine. Just not as severe. I either had the man version or the Elderberry concoction my wife took helped.

Lost 3 weeks of work in January. Came across the stats on the CDC's website that has the first confirmed case in the US as the 14th of January. Some doctors my wife (diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3.5 years ago) follow says the coronavires was here in November/December.

So I selected "I think I've had it and recovered" but really have no idea.

Had some cold symptoms back in Feb after we returned from FL. But it was like 3 days. No fever, no cough. Just felt crappy 1 day and had a couple days of runny nose. Then it was pretty much gone. Wife didn't have anything. So I don't think it was Corona. Wish it was though.

For the last 5 years I've lived with a post nasal drip that comes every fall. It has me coughing up flem and clearing my throat constantly. When I got sick about a month ago I was real lucky my lungs didn't fill to bursting.

Coming soon I hope are serology tests that will show that many of us have already had COVID-19 and thought it merely a mild or bad cold. I've said it before, but at the end of Feburary I had all the symptoms.

For those that routinely experience seasonal sinus/respiratory ailments here’s something you may want to consider. I am one of those people who seemed to fight sinus congestion/upper respiratory infection every winter until, amazingly, this winter.

This past summer I finally went to see an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. He basically told me my sinuses were constricted, the result of two broken noses I suffered during my rough & rowdy days along with summertime allergies. He put me on a daily dose of Clariton and a nasal spray for the rest of my life. I can’t believe the difference it’s made. It’s like I can breathe again after years of just living with the alternative.

We have been effectively "social distancing" since the time my wife could no longer walk due to her early onset, more than three years. Though she has been on hospice for a year now she is actually healthy in all ways not cognitive, with a strong will to live. We likely will be "social distancing" even after the restrictions are lifted. Life goes on as usual here.

Social differencing, spend as much time as possible outside no contact with anyone just enjoying nature. Really miss my family, we use to interact with my 14 year old granddaughter every day, always had family meeting at least every two weeks. Will be so glad to get back to normal!

This is when we would normally be either on the road to or already in Ct. When surgery is scheduled, there will be NO ONE allowed in the hospital with her. Not even one designated person. Difficult to be responsible and still be supportive. The grandchildren are 17 & 23, so they are a great help and we will most likely stay here, in Maine. Won't be easy.

Oh yeah, we are healthy at this time. We're in our early 70s and suspect tourist season will be quiet this year. I have a suspicion that the present situation with this virus, is going to be longer than we are being led to believe. Stay healthy BYers and be responsible with decision making re; exposure.

Like most here we're limiting our social contacts to grocery shopping and hitting the package store. Fortunately CT authorities have deemed wine and beer essential commodity. We try to walk every day (hips permitting) and have rediscovered cribbage. Last night we went "out to dinner" at one of our favorite seafood restaurants. Call in your order, drive up to the door and the servers bring it out to the car.

Do you mean Claritin ? I have the same sinus every winter problem. My doctor gives me an Azelastine HCl nasal spray and Claritin.
