New Canaan born & raised Max Pacioretty was named Captain this week on the Great hockey franchise - Montreal Canadiens.

In Montreal, where you can talk hockey 24/7 on sports radio (in French & English), the tradition of Captain has a fabulous history. This a huge elevation for a 26 year old & points to our potential in Connecticut for advancement in our own Hockey East ahead. Only opportunity for exciting things from Coach Cavanagh & ice.

As someone who flippantly follows Canadien hockey, Pacioretty is the natural choice for captaincy. The only other consideration would have been Subban but his erratic play (and nature) can't be trusted with the prestigious 'C'.

On a UConn slant, there is more than enough talent in our own state to build a collegiate hockey powerhouse. Connecticut is perceived as a weak football recruiting ground but no such thing can be said about hockey (or hoops, for that matter).
