June 5 is the baseball draft and junior pitcher Sean Newcomb from UHart is apparently
a lock to be taken in the first round. He could refuse the offer and return for his senior year but the money might be too substantial for that choice.
6'5"...240 pounds...lefty. UHart is in the America East tournament and has a shot to go the NCAA tournament for the first time. He pitched last night and was great. I don't know if he will be able to go again before the end of that tourney and that might be a problem for the team.
Has reached 97mph on the gun...and is developing his off-speed stuff.
A big deal at UHart!
BTW: the way the Sox starting pitchers are going, I kind of expect UConn grad
Matt Barnes to be called up from Pawtucket for a start. He has been in the Sox system for about 3 years and is considered a real prospect.
