OT: Can a 79 year old dunk?

I'm (almost).77; can I still dunk? No, not a. chance. If we modify the question to the more.accurate could I ever dunk the answer is the same. At 5'6" I was never confused with Spud Webb. On my best day I could get a finger on the rim. Just the other day I was talking to the guy I hit tennis balls with about the best lespers in NBA history. You know, MJ and Doc and the like getting 42' inches or more off the floor. I gave it a go. Maybe a foot. Or a little less. Sigh...

You're looking at this the wrong way. At (almost) 77, you can dunk just as well as you could at 25. Congratulations!

I could never dunk; hardly jump...a charter member of the
"white guys can't jump" adage.
But...

at almost 86, I run around the court for a half hour most pleasant days
(today for example) shooting 10 minutes of layups and reverses and the rest...my still deadly one-hander...patterned after Carl Braun and Bill Sharman, two of my idols.

The layups and the required choreography are great for balance and the running around after errant shots is terrific exercise and usually adds up to 4000+ steps, a goodly downpayment on my 10,000 requirement.

I note a bit more stiffness that I remember from last year, but it's early in the season; wind and bending is actually better as I've dropped 20 pounds to
get in better shape, (hoping in vain) to turn back the clock.

but dunking? forgetaboutit!

This is the inspiration I'm taking from the videos (and you!). I want to add some less structured movement to the old 3 days/week gym routine.
