OT: Buying Sneakers

Can't find good (i.e. nice looking) sneakers in wide sizes. Where do you Yarders with wide feet buy your sneakers? Size D won't do, and very few stores carry wider sizes.

I'd like to add I haven't paid more than $75, which could be why I have a difficult time.

Sports Authority has some 4E's but very limited (and I'm a 3E.) Surprisingly Famous Footware has quite a few wide sneakers.

New Balance has a great assortment of wide sneakers. I get mine at Kohls and Famous Footware.

Just got a pair of wide New Balance up at their Factory Store in Boston. I've been on an Adidas kick the last few years but the NBs are sharp and fit well.

My advice: Asics. I've been through this. I'm size 13 and wide. Never go wrong with Asics.

Asics are outstanding. If you're planning on using these sneakers to run in, go with Asics.

I've got wide feet too. As a result, I've found that you almost have to buy from one of the major inline sellers. Zappos has a huge selection and good return policy, but my favorite by far is Joe's New Balance Outlet. http://www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com

Depends on where you are. There's usually a good store nearby. In Westport we have Athletic Shoe Factory and there shops in New Canaan and Fairfield as well. Not a fan of the big box sneaker stores though. I have wide feet and have found Asics (I like the gel ones like Nimbus and Cumulus but it depends on whether you are pronated or not) to fit really well. I'm a convert from New Balance which just haven't changed their styles so I got bored with them. I just bought a pair of Mizunos which fit really well but you'd have to cough up more than $75, probably more like $125 or so for the Asics and a LOT more for the Mizunos.

Same here. New Balance store in Boston has lots if you can get there easily. Nike has W's too, but they are hard to find. Adidas shoes are designed for the Keebler elves, even the Wides are too narrow. I just look every time I'm at a store and if I happen to find a 10W in something I like at a decent price, I buy it and stash it until needed. You can't rely on finding something when you need it. That's the challenge. Online store work, but are more expensive.

Depending on what you want by the way, I bought some Merrell "barefoot" shoes two weeks ago at the Wrentham Outlet. Fit perfectly even in regular size. Seem really well designed for people needing a wider toe box, as part of the barefoot design. Most comfortable things I've ever worn.
