I hope that everyone has a safe Memorial Day and that you remember all those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to give us the freedoms we now enjoy and to those that died to preserve those same freedoms.
I want to to bring attention to the Fishkill Supply Depot Burial Ground.
The Fishkill Supply Depot in Fishkill, NY served to supply the new American army during the American Revolution. There was also a hospital located there where the wounded and sick healed or in many cases died. The land that they are buried on is threatened to be developed by the owner. While he is doing an archeological dig (using a backhoe), this land should forever by protected from any further development. By coming out you will show your support to preserving this land.
6 original members of my Regiment are buried there and I would like people in Western Connecticut or Eastern New York to come to the ceremony of laying wreaths on the site. It easily to get to (right off I-84). The ceremony will start at 3:30pm at the Van Wyck Homestead 504 Rte 9, Fishkill, NY 12524. with the lowering of the flag to half staff, we will then march down to the burial ground (a short distance away) for the laying of the wreaths then return to the Van Wyck Homestead to raise the flag at full staff.
Please come out and help support the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot Burial Ground. Thank you.
