I hope that everyone has a safe Memorial Day and that you remember all those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to give us the freedoms we now enjoy and to those that died to preserve those same freedoms.

I want to to bring attention to the Fishkill Supply Depot Burial Ground.

The Fishkill Supply Depot in Fishkill, NY served to supply the new American army during the American Revolution. There was also a hospital located there where the wounded and sick healed or in many cases died. The land that they are buried on is threatened to be developed by the owner. While he is doing an archeological dig (using a backhoe), this land should forever by protected from any further development. By coming out you will show your support to preserving this land.

6 original members of my Regiment are buried there and I would like people in Western Connecticut or Eastern New York to come to the ceremony of laying wreaths on the site. It easily to get to (right off I-84). The ceremony will start at 3:30pm at the Van Wyck Homestead 504 Rte 9, Fishkill, NY 12524. with the lowering of the flag to half staff, we will then march down to the burial ground (a short distance away) for the laying of the wreaths then return to the Van Wyck Homestead to raise the flag at full staff.

Please come out and help support the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot Burial Ground. Thank you.

AB, know the area very well and am with you and friends in the preservation movement. Spent many years down in Dobbs agitating for the places where Washington launched the drive down to Yorktown from, but also the village and burial grounds for the Weckquaesgeek tribe here that controlled most of Manhattan before Henry Hudson appeared. But we found we just couldn't stop greedhead developers backed by sot brain con A. Pirro, who blew it all away. The fight is always worth it, no matter the result.

What bothers me the most is even the THOUGHT of trying to build on land that could hold the remains of at least 60 men who died giving us our freedom.

Thanks, Dobbs for understanding......

This has stuck with me since I heard it yesterday......this is from a letter written by a doctor who was at the hospital at Fishkill in 1777
"..... if I were to continue to read the roles of who has died of illness you would think I have cleared the entire ward..... they disobeyed my orders to live so I was forced to give them furlough ...."
