I found the first show of this short last season really tepid. Curious about others' reactions. It set an incredibly high bar for itself of course. I know some of my problem is Skyler's return to greater prominence and I find her an incredible character.

The scenes with Jesse were low-key, but it's hard to depict depression. I thought Dean Norris was absolutely terrific, and the replay of the bathroom scene and the drive home really compelling. And the garage scene was utterly gripping. A lot of this was setting the table for future shows. Jesse is done with Walter - doesn't trust him, doesn't believe him. The Hank-Walt battle has begun. And supposedly Laura Fraser (sorry, don't remember character's name) plays a prominent role this half season, thus the car wash set up scene. Plus some fascinating hints about the future, especially with Walt and Skyler's home. Thought it was a great opening towards the end.

I'm with you cheddie. They have set things up for an incrdible run.

Overall. I thought the episode was great, with hanks scenes in the bathroom and his garage with and without Walt as the highlights. I was disappointed in the turn for Jesse's character...I was fine with his distrust of Walt but his response to the money was foolish and weak and not in keeping with how he held up in the other seasons.
(I.e. the strength he displayed in Mexico through the Salud episode etc.)
