Retired Boston Globe sportswriter Bob Ryan has just written a book with his take on a variety
of Boston-related sports stories over the last 45 years or so....title is 'Scribe'. I haven't read it
but it got a great review in the Sunday Globe [uhh...no surprise there] but I have read Ryan's articles
over the years and am certain that any Boston fan [or really any sports fan] would enjoy the book.
Sox/Bird/Pats/college hoops....you name it...Bob has covered it.

This is a repeat but it seems relevant: I went down to Conte Forum to see the UConn women play BC
many years ago....I think it was during the 1995/1996 season. Before the game started I saw Bob
come in and sit down on press row. I purchased the Sunday Globe the next day to see what he had to say about the game. He was very positive about the UConn team....something he regularly was about our men's and women's teams over the years. One observation stood out.

BTW: Allen Iverson was attending Georgetown at that time....or maybe he had just turned pro early.
At some point in the article Ryan said that Iverson would be a much better player if he knew what Jen Rizzotti
knew about playing point. Very cool!

I'm sure local libraries will be purchasing the book....or it would be a great Christmas gift for a Boston fan.

Or if he knew what Rizzotti knew about practice.

I like Ryan a lot, although I have only read one piece, I think.

He is a regular on the Sports Reporters, probably twice a month at least, and does some work as a sub on PTI. Those represent the only 2 sports talk shows that I watch.

It seems like the Sports Reporters all write books - William Rhoden, Mitch Albom and Mike Lupica, all regulars on the show, are all authors.
