Wet shaving is basically using an old fashion double edge safety razor (or a straight razor). You lather up the soap using a brush, and then use a single blade. I made the switch last summer and won't look back. I actually enjoy shaving now; have far less irritation than I did with cartridges and get a closer shave. It's easy to spend a lot of money but if you don't go crazy with the hobby side of it, you can truly save a lot of money. 100 blades is like $20 tops, each one lasts 3 - 5 shaves. A tub of soap lasts like 6 months or longer depending on the type, high quality artisan soap is between $13 - 20. The razor will run you $20 - 50 but will last a lifetime. Balms and aftershaves are roughly $20 and last a few months but are completely optional.

So much better than blowing $30 bucks a month on cartridges.
