Holy crap have these games been entertaining.

The Seattle WR messed up running out of bounds at the end. They had two timeouts. If he lunged forward five more yards, they could have tried a 58 yarder and that messed-up squib could have been a disaster.

(On edit - I could be wrong with NFL rules, where you aren't down until you are touched. Atlanta could have just not touched him and the clock may have run out).

Agree! He was afraid time was running out however! Incredible playoffs. BTW, Atlanta has lots of professional teams and still loves Georgia Football. I know this belongs on the CR forum, but it would only get lost there.

That lunge would have taken the remaining 2 seconds. They were in a weird situation there. Should have tried to get a couple seconds back on the clock after the kick ended (I'm not as well versed in football to know if that is really possible...I've seen a lot of plays where they put time back on, though).

He did run at least five yards laterally to get out of bounds, but as I edited above, I'm not sure about when the clock stops when you go down on purpose. He might not have had that option..

I also thought that if Seattle could have drawn it up ideally, they would have been stopped on the goal line on first down to let more clock run off. But not like they could do anything about that - they have to try to score there, lest they get stopped on downs and lose 27-21.

Pats secondary d is really great. They cause one guy to let a ball slip right through his hands taking away a touchdown and they caused the quarterback to throw the ball 10 feet behind a wide open player agains taking away a touchdown. And that stopped the kickoff short of the goal line to do all this!

A very entertaining Divisional Round at least.

The games last week were all snoozers.

If they took the FG in the 2nd quarter...or if they got one off at the end of the half, it's a different ballgame, though. Sometimes you just have to take the points.
