I love iced tea (especially Dunkin Donuts) but I can never seem to get it "right" when I make it myself. What brand tea is the best to use and how long do you seep it? I usually seep it for 5 mins....

Do you make it by the pitcher or by the glass. I always make a pitcher. I use Tetley (8 bags) just for regular iced tea, let it steep about 5-10, and pour it over ice. My favorite though is Republic of Tea's Ginger-Peach (10 bags). mmmmm. Same thing with steeping and over ice.

When I'm out and about and just want to pick up a glass (cup), I've found Wendy's is the best (for quick, traveling). I try to stay away from coffee places myself, cause it always seems to have a coffee taste to it (and I hate coffee).

I like refrigerator tea: Don't use hot water, just drop four Tetley tea bags and one miscellaneous (as in, a flavored tea - mint, hibiscus, peach, whatever I have sitting around.) Sits overnight and ready to go the next morning.

You can "cold brew" iced coffee, too...

I like to make Sun tea. Make a gallon at a time but just a little tip. Don't leave the Sun tea jar on the patio deck if you have a male dog around. :eek:

Was looking for a recipe for "southern sweet tea". Here it is. Supposedly the pinch of baking soda makes the tea very smooth?
INGREDIENTS:
1 pinch baking soda
2 cups boiling water
6 tea bags
3/4 cup white sugar
6 cups cool water
DIRECTIONS:
1.Sprinkle a pinch of baking soda into a 64-ounce, heat-proof, glass pitcher. Pour in boiling water, and add tea bags. Cover, and allow to steep for 15 minutes.
2.Remove tea bags, and discard; stir in sugar until dissolved. Pour in cool water, then refrigerate until cold.

My current favorite? Vanilla Mint Black tea from Simpson and Vail (svtea.com). Brewed strong and served over lots of ice after it has cooled. It almost seems to have a bit of sweetness to it, so no sugar is needed, but when I want it a little sweeter I add some vanilla syrup (found near the coffee in the grocery store).
