On another thread, Orangutan reminds us of Dennis Green's famous "they are who we thought they are" rant.

Got me looking for famous meltdowns. Here's one collection that starts with Green's. These are football coaches; anyone have any from basketball coaches or other sports?

Bobby Knight, what a tortured soul. What a fabulous coach, and, when he was caught at the right moment, incredibly charming. Like this, with his hilarious explanation of the chair-throwing incident (at the end of this charming interview).

Reporters will try the patience of a saint. Half aren't trying at all and the other half are trying too hard to get something that makes what they wrote last week seem brilliant. One of Jim Calhoun's milder put downs:

While the Jim Mora rant is a classic, there is one that will never be equaled. I cannot post it here without being permanently banned from the Board, and, as it is, I think I'm on a standing 2 1/2 count. But if any of you are in the mood, visit youtube and search for the Tommy Lasorda rant on Kurt Bevaqua. Do not do this in hearing range of children. Be prepared for some belly laughs!

Famous one from English soccer.

Spoiler: They didn't not beat them.

"You need to be like a dog. We don't need a bunch of cats in here."

No women coaches so far. Interesting since this thread was motivated by Tara VanDerveer and Sheri Coale

I like this one.
