It now seems like the norm. The Broncos took a chance on Julian Thomas in the 4th despite no football experience, they stick him on the Practice Squad for a year, now the kid is a stud. These are the former college bball players turned NFL TE.

Julius Peppers played both, it seems that you can turn a basketball player into a quality TE or speed pass rusher off the edge then any other position.

Loved CW as a qb at FSU. If he wasnt black he wouldve gotten drafted and likely had a decent NFL career. How he never got a shot is beyond me.
