Several USA men's NCAA hoops teams are in Barcelona during an exhibition tour of Spain (Clemson, Oregon State, Arizona, Tulane). Today a van drove into a crowd in front of the teams' hotel in Las Ramblas neighborhood, killing 13 and wounding 50. Being called a terror attack. All basketball players are safe. Some have canceled tonight's games and are leaving or reevaluating their exhibition schedules.

Thanks, this makes that attack more personal. As far as leaving there are two trains of thought on that, each valid:
It is safer to go home--limit the exposure of USA 's teams to terrorists
If you don't complete your schedule--the terrorists win. (Yes, but you are alive giving them the rasphberry--of the options; alive is always better)

I haven't seen a lot of detail, but we're getting a little broadcast media coverage here in Phoenix since Arizona is one of the teams. I believe a couple teams had games scheduled for last night - probably would have been canceled regardless. For at least one team this was their last scheduled game, and they just moved up their flight home.

A couple teams had games scheduled elsewhere in Spain and decided to move forward and play those games as planned.
