Best wishes, Rocky!
I had a post-vitreous detachment/retinal year in 2009. It happened on a Saturday night, as I was walking around D.C. in light rain. The result was a large bunch of small floaters in the center of my field of vision. I thought I had walked into a fine spray of paint or something. The next morning, rinsing my eye did nothing, so I called the eye group which had done my LASIK surgery 6 months earlier. They told me to see an eye doctor that day (Sunday). I found one at one of the eyeglass chains in a shopping mall. He told me to see a retina specialist the next day and tell them it was an emergency. I did, and Dr. Katira lasered the retina to close the tear. I had a few follow-ups and now see her annually. Everything is fine.
My sister had a problem last week, as she saw flashes of light. Those and floaters are common, especially for folks over the age of 60. In most cases, it’s nothing serious, but if it recurs or gets worse, immediate medical attention is recommended. If you see something that looks like a metaphorical shade being lowered, get to a specialist a.s.a.p. Qualified ophthalmologists can readily and effectively treat retinal tears. Retinal detachments are not currently treatable, as far as I know.
You should be fine, Rocky. Best wishes!!
