Bummer. I had him as being next up on one of those celebrity death pools.

Influence was huge. He did a great job outside of golf with medical facilities and had a bunch of world records in aviation for solo flying. Plus, according to everything I've read and the few people who have met him, he always gave his full attention to the person in front of him.

One of the greatest and was a great Ambassador for the sport who helped bring it into the mainstream along with a few others.

He had quite a sense of humor. A friend of mine and I followed him in a gallery at a senior tour event. He hit an errant shot, looking like it might have hit a fan. He turned and said, "I hope I didn't hurt anybody."

Jose Fernandez was very likely headed for the Hall of Fame. I think they should consider inducting him anyway. Sad accident. May he rest in peace, as well.
