In the early 80's, the National League had won 20 out of 21 or so of the past All Star games.

Pete Rose, Willie Stargell, Willie Mays etc all said let's kick the AL's asses every year game

Then that Whitey Herzog actually said after losing a game as an NL manager that no one cared and that it was an exhibition game. What a mushroom cap.

Since then it has been a country club who gives a crap game.

Very sad.

by midnight tonight NBA FA will be leaving the MLB allstar game in the dust

For all you wimpy 30 somethings, the MLB all star game used to mean something.

Not like the horseshit NFL probowl or the NBA all star game

I'm twice that age and all all-star games/reunion game/old-timers games are boring.

This might not have been the best thread to create in a men's basketball section of a forum.

That was back in the days when players stayed with a team for many years, hence their league. Now with players following the money they can be in alternating leagues every two to three years, even worse on different all star teams as well. Also in baseball All Star games you can go hard at one another as injuries are uncommon in these games, due to the non contact sport. It was a real All Star game with league pride. Bottom line league pride is gone, its just a glorified 'irrelevant' game now and WS home court advantage not making a difference in play. Its permanently broken unless you pay the winners $100k or something. We all know that many Players love money.
