I was never a David Stern fan for many reasons and he looks terrible with this whole Sterling situation, I also question how Chris Paul ended up with the Clippers. Despite being Stern's right hand man for many years Silver seems to be an entirely different person and his own man. I'm impressed with all of the things I've read and seen from him. He's smart as a whip, practical and thoughtful which are characteristics I like in a leader. This was a huge moment so early in his tenure and I thought he handled it perfectly. It's far from over but from his press conference I'm confident the NBA is in good hands with him at the helm. I know there aren't many NBA fans on the boneyard but curious what the few who are think of the man?

He definitely made the right move after being put in a tough spot right out of the gate. He seemingly accomplished the very uncommon result of appeasing the players, owners, and fans with the same move.

I think there were several 'kick the can down the road' options available. Looks like Silver chose to avoid them, bit the bullet and chose the best course which will benefit the greatest number of parties (players, staff, fans, league)- exactly what a leader should do if at all possible.

He made the politically correct move and said we don't want you in our owners club, there's no room for racism a correct move , but what about if someone like Donald Trump wants to join and buy a team? You could say that he didn't really accept a black man legitimitly as president with his birther accusations a total smokescreen. Some say that has racist implications, so Trump might not be allowed? I am aware that we don't have Trump on tape but the guy is pretty off the wall, should he be disqualified?
I think he should have banned him for 5 years and then decide if he had changed or learned. This was an opportunity to make a statement that racists can change and even reform. Now if Sterling went public and admitted his errors it allows for a teaching moment as an example to turn bigoted people. We let murderers in this country pay a price and reform and rejoin society but the NBA not so much?

Silver was handed an easy opportunity to win over basically all of the NBA and he made the simple decision.
