For the first time ever Tiger Woods is playing the PGA tour event here in my city. While he isnt the player he once was.... there is no doubt he is still the top draw in the game....and its not even close. The tournament printed an extra 49,000 tickets for the event after he announced he was coming.

He's been playing well all week... he has to win the tournament to advance to the fedex playoffs....

As the scoring conditions get harder, Tiger does nothing. IMHO he lost the tournament when he bogeyed the 18th hole yesterday to not be in the last pairing. Lost his putter touch as the tournament went on. Will not be in the FEDEX, which means I probably don't watch until the last week.

I was at Sedgefield Friday and walked all 18 holes with Tiger. His impact on the tournament is indescribable. It is as if he is the only golfer competing. All the other golfers could walk among the throngs with nary a bother. Tiger required constant security. Everyone in attendance was there to see Tiger. And he was absolutely brilliant on Friday. He gave us the show everyone came to see. If there were any Tiger haters in the crowd, they kept it to themselves.

They capped attendance Friday at 30,000. Saw that they had 34,000 for Saturday.... and 35,000 today. Best thing the tournament did was move it from Forest Oaks to Sedgefield a few years back. From all accounts its a great old school classic course. Ive never been to a golf tournament before..... in retrospect I should have made an effort to attend this week

The field was less than usual, so Tiger was clearly the marquee player. Some of the interest in Tiger now is based on curiosity: will we see brilliant shotmaking, or will we see a train wreck? He had a good tournament and clearly showed signs of progress, but his short game on #11 today was a certifiable train wreck. I think he could be a factor next year. A couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't have thought that.

3rd round TV ratings were higher than the 3rd round TV ratings for the PGA championship the week before. Final round ratings were the highest for a non-major since May 2013... and the highest for a non-major on CBS since 2012.

You got it right , Milford, when you said it's the curiosity factor. He certainly has not disappointed those who are rooting for the train wreck. Had trouble getting the grin off my face after he skulled his 3rd shot across the 11th green.

It appears that his next event will be the Frys.com tournament in Napa Valley in mid-October. That is the first event of the new PGA calendar, and Tiger committed to playing in it a few years ago in return for getting an exemption to play in an overseas exhibition. McElroy is also expected to be in the field.

If Tiger's attendance draw begins to flag, they can always bring in O J Simpson to pick up the slack.
