Are there any past or current 4-guard offenses in college ball? I feel like someone was running one earlier this year, but I can't think of who. It'd be interesting to see if UConn could pull it off (not that I'm advocating for it). Just curious if it's ever worked in the past for anyone else.

Brendan Allen has yet to be given a shot. I'm not saying he's good, but no one knows. Giffey can hit threes and is their best defensive player. Scoe even played guard a little bit today, though he's better at the 4. And next year they'll have Calhoun, though Lamb will probably be gone.

You want us to go to a four-guard line-up with an untested walk-on in the postseason? Because we lost by three to the No. 2 team in the country?

The St. Joe's team with Jameer Nelson and Delonte West ran four guards, and so did Villanova's Lowry-Foye-Ray-Nardi team. Cincinnati even did a little of it this year when they had the suspensions. It takes the right mix of guys, though - a couple physical guards who can defend larger players in the post and rebound.

You want to play a freshman walk-on who has seen limited minutes in blowouts time against the best or second best team in the country? That does not sound like a good idea.

If this were next year and everyone came back with Omar Calhoun, I'd be OK playing Lamb/Napier/Boatright/Calhoun together for very limited minutes.

Nope. Just think it'd be interesting to see...not in the postseason...not even late in a season...more like in an exhibition game. Just curious.

Scoe didn't play any guard today and hasn't in his career.

Ah - gotcha. Sorry, I was thinking you wanted line-up changes right now to this team.

Villanova and St. Joe's showed it can be done at a high level. Foye was a good rebounding guard in college, and St. Joe's had Pat Carroll (Matt's brother) as a 6-5 guard who could defend the post a little. They both just spread you out on offense and were very tough to guard - they played like Euro teams on offense: drive, kick and rotate to shooters.

Villanova when they put Allan Ray, Randy Foye, Kyle Lowry, and Mike Nardi outside with Curtis Sumpter inside.

Giffey is far from being our best defensive player. He's improving to be sure, but not there yet.
