The Olympic organizers will select one [and just one] of the following choices to participate in the 2020
games.

Wrestling
Softball/baseball
Squash

I much prefer watching the combo but I would hope wrestling gets a reprieve and is back in The Games in 2020. The final decision will be made in September.

Let's hope it's wrestling. It was pretty much there at the beginning. Should stay.

SOFTBALL!!!!!!

Wrestlers still tick me off with their attack on Title IX v. Big Football.

SOFTBALL!!!!!!
OMG NO! Softball might possibly be the most boring sport of all time. Besides why can't they just play baseball?? Make no sense at all.

Love fast pitch softball.

Love fast pitch softball.
I'm sure some do. Just bored me to death. Why can't they just play baseball? Girls play basketball, soccer, track and field, lacrosse, field hockey, wrestling, boxing, etc. without completely changing the game around. Just makes no sense.

I can kind of see slow pitch, cause people are old and slow, but if you are gonna play fastpitch, just play baseball. Very silly.

You mean, why can't they play a different sport -- since baseball and softball are two different sports? Sorta like badminton and tennis are.... but you know that.

My feeling is, why not have everyone play softball? Much more fun than watching half-naked men grabbing at each other.... unless, of course, you enjoy that kinda thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

No thanks. I'd rather avoid the Tommy John or rotator cuff surgery on my elbow/shoulder from pitching overhand.
Also, softball players actually know how to bunt and play a 'short' game, rather than relying on bombing the ball over the fence.

No, why create a variant of a sport because women are...inferior???? Makes no sense.

Because it's even more boring. I wouldn't want to condemn my worst enemy to that. (not even TN/NY Giants/ Tottenham fans ;))

Although that would make more sense than men playing baseball and women playing softball.

Oh, you mean wrestling. I couldn't figure out what half naked men were playing softball.

Cause that's all they can do. All it is, is a short game. Like playing miniature golf.

Ted Williams couldn't hit Joan Joyce nor could Reggie Smith. Those playing that "inferior" women's sport dominate baseball players trying to play fast pitch softball all the time.

My dislike has nothing to do with gender. I remember watching men play fast pitch when I was a kid. (Navy Atlantic Fleet League) Booooring. Watched the great Joan Joyce mow down men and women. Booring after the 10th K. The pitching is just too dominant. Maybe if they moved the mound back 5 feet batters would have a chance.
I'm no fan of wrestling but it is one of the last sports that uses no apparatus. Been in the Olympics for a couple of thousands years and is being kicked out because it doesn't "trend" well on twitter? They should replace the Olympic symbol with:
.
$$$$$
$$$$

You didn't read it right.

No need to debate this. It is the IOC we are talking about here. They will unanimously choose squash. Remember these are the same clowns that brought us team handball. What a frigging joke that is. What's next Kick 'in Can.

I remember playing that. Never played squash though. Ate it once......once.

Yeah, I did read it correctly, your comments had that as a implication. Why don't the guys just play fast pitch instead. It is much more challenging. There is no need for baseball just have the guys play play the tougher sport. The Raybestos Cardinals did for years.

Not true. I knew four or five girls who could clear the fence in high school. You see homers fairly often in televised college softball, but you also see people who know how to play a small ball game.

I knew a few hundred guys who could.

Never seen one. I'm sure they happen. Just in 10-15 years of watching (granted not whole games or even partial games, just checking in) never seen one.

Foolish fellow! Ya gotta watch more softball. This is my 20th year of coaching, from 7-yr olds to high school varsity, and I've seen lots. Yes, they are rarer than in baseball - the ball is heavier, and, as you say, pitching plays a more dominant role. The fact that homers are infrequent makes them more special - it also means that defense and base-running are a factor in almost every run scored. Good softball is, almost by definition, a pitching duel backed by beautiful defense. Some folks like Gibson v. Kofaux, and some folks like the home-run-derby that high-level men's slow-pitch has become. To each their own, but, there's greatness in well-played softball, and great satisfaction in teaching the game and watching a kid improve through the season/years. Just 'cause I have no use for tennis (really: I don't), doesn't mean that I think that those that do are misguided.

Well I don't think y'all are misguided. If you enjoy it, go for it. I just find it boring. And still wonder why they can't just play baseball??????

Gibby is my favorite baseball player ever. Grew up in IL, was a huge Cardinal fan.

Without wrestling they might as well just cancel the Olympics.
