Break it down further.

In a 30 completion game, that's 33 grand a completion.

Game is 60 minutes. That's about 16,000 a minute.

(A) At least he's one of the best.
(B) If he's no longer one of the best, they'll cut him and his salary will be corrected by the market.

But yeah, that's a lot of cash for dressing in spandex and a helmet and getting knocked around for 3 hours.

if you think about it, there really aren't even 60 minutes of action in a football game. and he's not on the field the entire 60 minutes either.

Hard to say what an athlete should be payed, but they're not ripping anybody off based on how much money is spent on sports and merchandise related to top athletes. Anywhoo they still have a ways to go to catch up to wall street, i remember this from a few years back http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/sep2003/nyse-s09.shtml

Players get so much money because their teams and league makes so much money from the customers who buy tickets, TV packages, merchandise and then bitch about how much money athletes get paid.

Unlike MLB, at least in the NFL you have to perform or your contract is voided.

After last season, it's obvious that if anyone is worth the money, it's Manning. Actually, either Manning.

MLB contracts are far more ridiculous than NFL.

Also, Peyton got more than that last year from the Colts, and he didn't even do anything.
