I see that 18 year old Mikaela Shiffron [USA] won the World Cup opener in the slalom over the weekend.
She is #1 in the world in that event and is a student at the Olde Coach founded Burke Mt. Ski Academy.
She may have graduated? I know nothing about skiing unless I learned it from OC but I am eager to follow Mikaela in the Winter Olympics coming up in Russia in a couple of months. OC says that in terms of personality, character and overall wonderfulness Mikaela reminds him of Maya Moore. 'Nuff said.
18 year old [there goes that young talent again] Lexi Thompson won the latest LPGA tour event in Mexico over the weekend....her second in the last 4 tournaments. My guess is that moves her within the top 10 in the world and second American behind Stacie Lewis. Lexi won the USGA17U tournament in 2008 [at 13] at the Hartford Golf Club. She was skinny and could bomb it. Now she has filled out some and can still bomb it. Putting has been a bit of a problem but maybe she has worked that out.
