In my opinion, he needs more minutes. This team cannot survive Big East play with drummond and olander. Oriakhi is a big body, that today didnt do that bad. Regardless of his play right now, for this team to be successful Oriakhi needs to play and be a part of it. He is the only big man on the team that has anything remotely close to a post move, and you need post moves to have a successful inside out game. Without him in there we have nothing not keep the defense honest with.

I agree 100%. No disrespect to Olander, hes been playing great all season but hes not going to be the X factor in elevating this team to the next level. Uconn needs Oriakhi to play well more then they need Olander to play well. AO needs the mins to find his game again and im ok with Olander losing minutes to Oriakhi for the purpose of getting into the flow again.

We are half way through the season...too late for experimenting and giving players minutes in the hope that more minutes will miraculously make them a better player. AO did play a little better today and definitely deserves to be a significant part of the rotation. However, he is simply not a high post player (guards strip him there too easily and he struggles mightily in trying to feed the low post)...he needs to stay in the low block on offense where he can make tip-ins and turn and lay the ball in. Unfortunately, AD, although he can play at the high post, he is not an effective player there, whereas he can be a very effective player in the low post but he needs to be no further than five feet from the basket to be really effective.

So more minutes for AO either both AD & AD on the floor whichmeans a stagnant offense with one ineffective player on offense, or he has to split time with AD. Personally, I would be fine with fewer minutes for AD and a few more for AO. Both should then be free to be more aggressive and not worry as much about fouls
