Don't like that they struggle to close out teams. Marquette missed a bunch of free throws at the end. This team gets up by 10 and think it's over. They start with careless passes and start watching on defense. Hurley can be slow to call a timeout. The next time they buid a lead and someone throws the ball away on a no look or trying to get cute with it, Hurley needs to call a 'T' and yank the player. Send a message to the team.

I say this loving this team and Hurley, but they have to learn to finish a team. This team has not come close to playing a solid 40 minutes except for maybe the Auburn game and that was 40+ minutes. And look at what they did.

If this team can give a consistent effort over 40 they could be scary good, but they have not really shown that yet.

Great effort tonight and a really good job by Hurley. Game featured some of our typical mistakes but the defense was outstanding I thought, especially when they extended out on their shooters in the 2nd half. The way we played in the first half, probably would have blown out most teams but credit to Marquette for some amazing three point shooting. Very proud of these guys tonight.

The next two games are huge. If we play like we did tonight, especially in the first half, we should be good. Our bench, Hawkins and Polley, stepped up nicely in the first half.

This win significantly raises the floor and takes us to probably 1 Q1 win away from clinching a Tournament bid.

We're now 16-6, 7-4 in conference. We have 8 games left:

Xavier twice (should split this)
vs. Nova, Seton Hall (winnable home games)
@ St. John's, @ Creighton (tough road games against middle of the pack teams)
vs. DePaul, @ Georgetown

The latter two we absolutely have to win and should win pretty easily. That gets us to 18 wins.

If we can win even 2 of the other 6 games against decent to good competition, that should have us at worst an 8 seed. Even 1 win in those 6 games probably has us in.
