No surprises in the top 25...lots of preseason AA/POY candidates are shining early: Oregon throttled Alaska Anchorage by 79. Ionescu with a triple double, Satou Sabally with 21, Boley 14 pts as a starter, Hebard with 17 despite feeling under the weather. Syracuse rolls over North Dakota, winning by 36. Mangakahia with a quieter night, 11 points, 3 assists and 4 steals in 22 minutes. Baylor throttles Nicholls State by 61. Solid contributions from freshmen...lots of shared minutes. South Florida throttles Ohio State despite Laksa shooting just 4/16. Rude of me to say, but I'm excited to see how bad OSU is this year. Iowa crushes Dakota Weslyan (didn't even know this school existed). Gustafson with 22/12/5 blocks, no turnovers on 11/12 shooting. Louisville blew out Western Kentucky, they had a 34 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Asia Durr starts her POY campaign strong with 33 points. Transfer Diop started and had a good game (11/10). Also worth noting, Dana Evans apparently beat out Arica Carter for her starting spot but Carter had a great game off the bench with 19 points, Evans had just 4. Mississippi State blew out Southeast Missouri State by 35. McCowan had 24/17 and 7 blocks. Got to the line 15 times as well. No other big standouts, although Chloe Bibby shot 3/7 from deep and Wiggins took 4 triples off the bench (hit just 1), so I'm guessing those will be their 2 main perimeter threats. No 3pt shots from Danberry or Holmes. Cal beats Houston 80-79. No idea how Houston is supposed to be this year, but Anigwe had 37/13. Former high recruit Recee Caldwell struggled big time in her first game as a Bear, just 3 points, 2 assists, and 8 turnovers. Missouri beats Western Illinois by 25...Cunningham with 31/8.
