Take a look at Hemmingway. He is listed as much smaller than the other OTs, but he didn't look that much different at the spring game. I would be curious to see if others share this view.

Will do. It will be interesting to see if he gets more reps with the one's then Friend.

Another thing to look for will be Wildcat reps from anybody. I also want to see Lamelle in action, hopefully he is as good as advertised.

Thanks, appreciate it. I think Lemelle has he best chance of seeing the field of all the frosh.

Not a lot, if any, carries for Lyle McCombs today. Nothing more than Pasqualoni wanting to get a look at the other tailbacks.

Thing that stood out at #UConn practice: freshman QB Tim Boyle can really throw the ball, he's huge and could play sooner than later.

That said, all the UConn quarterbacks made some poor throws today. Pasqualoni was less than happy about the numerous turnovers.

I went and watched the Offense most of the time. Weist really works with them. The only thing that I could see as that Whitmer and to some extent Cochran appear much better than the others, especially Whitmer. The other guys are catching up to the speed it seemed.

Couple of things

I did not see McCombs run so much. A lot of the other guys. Hypolite and DeLorenzo looked faster this year , but hey what do I know. Williams I was impressed with. There was a high snap and the play seemed to be broken and the guy takes the ball and he makes two cuts and gains 4. Really something from nothing.

Andreas Knapp is just huge.

Geramy Davis is taller than 6'3". The kid is good.

McQuillan looked good at TE, but man we are short there. Meyer may play - he may have to.

I say they guy that will be the difference maker this year for the O is Clax. He will be involved. Strait runs and passes.

This offense is now no-huddle. Very up tempo. Weist just keeps the pressure on to run plays. Get up and go.

Tough to glean too much.

Thanks rich - I was just going to ask. What did you think of the push by the oline? Were they opening holes?

Happy to hear about Martin's recovery. Not too happy about the TO's, hopefully they get it all out in the camp..

Davis & Phillips are going to be studs this year. Really liked what I saw out of DeLorenzo & Joe Williams as well. It's definitely Whitmer's team. Defense looked solid from what I saw. The O-line was getting pushed around by our D-line. Hopefully that changes come Aug 29th.

Not sure what you get out of this stuff. How much is pre-scripted etc. We had a few good runs. The line is in tact. Plenty of mix and match. Bennet is a beast. Man he is big.

My observation about both lines is that we seem to be deeper and we have more size on the deep.

My two cents on the practice:

Weist is in charge of the offense, no more conspiracy theory talk, it's Weist's show.

Max D and Claxx stood out on offense, very impressed with Max, he has a knack of knowing when to cut and follow his blockers to maximize yardage.

Boyle appears to have the most velocity on his fastball and he is bigger than I thought. Reminds me of Zach Frazer, he even threw, by my count three picks.

I was impressed with Lagow, he' seems more accurate than Boyle at the moment, nice touch on his throws.

There is a big drop off in QB play after Whitmer, you can throw Cochran, Boyle and Lagow into a hat and pick your back-up, write now I would take Lagow.

Warde was there and he gave a pep talk.

I think Lemelle will redshirt, he needs to add weight, Noel Thomas has an impressive build for a Freshman, he John Greene and Dhameer Bradley are fighting it out to be the 4th receiver, they all look like they can contribute.

When I first got there the players were walking in, one guy stood out as someone who looked like a professional wrestler in the mold of Big John Stud. I looked up his number because I didn't know who it was, turns out it was Andreas "the Giant" Knappe. If that guy has any football skill at all look out.

Our starting lineup on the O-line was Friend, Cruz, Mateas, Greene and Bennett. Bullock did not practice.

For Palatine: Yes Hemingway did look thinner then the rest of the Lineman.

Matt Walsh does not look like a Freshmen, he had a nice run after a catch.

One take from my first time at a practice, I felt that coach Wiest really drove the receivers and worked them through the reps. A lot of energy from him.

Freshmen QBs looked like freshmen, learning. Pressure from the defense at speed was good and the tempo of the drills was good for them as well to train under pressure. I like how coach Day was leading them through drills. Good gravy the new guys are tall!

I appreciate and am encouraged by the TJ reports, but with all respect Mets I will not believe this is the case until I see up-tempo, no huddle and creative plays in a real game. Seen too much the past two years and know too much about the early 2000s at Syracuse. Trust but verify.
