Depending on overall length and carries, either a 3-wood or 5-wood, 7 iron, my trusty Rusty 52 degree wedge and putter.

My last year really playing golf I had my lowest score of the entire year in our annual fall 3-club tourney. Shot a 74 (as a 7) with a 21* hybrid, 7 iron and PW. I think I broke 80 like 5x that entire year. Bizarro

I agree with Hogan. Need the driver otherwise you give up too much yardage on most holes. Need a putter or you’ll really sacrifice strokes. Your favorite wedge, you’re not going to have a GIR every time and you’ll want a shot at up and downs not to mention all your ~100 yards and in shots. An iron you trust. For me a 5 iron. Gets me around 185 yards and I can choke down or take a little off for shorter shots.

18 degree 2-iron driving iron, 8 iron, 56 degree wedge, putter.

Cripes, sometimes I'll play a round with only four clubs any way.

Using the OP's criteria, anything you can reliably hit 200-220 will work off the tee on a standard NE course, not playing from tips. Don't need 280-310 from a driver (today's tech, not Hogan's). JMHO. Many of the local munis I played when I lived in CT/MA had a number of tight fairways. You could bomb on 5s (and often there were only 3), but driver on 4s was often overkill.

But I suck, so what do I know, other than my wife saying, "You're not seriously considering hitting driver here, are you?"

For the clubs I picked:

2-iron off the tee- 220-235 off the tee
8 iron- 160-165
56 degree- 100 and in and I can hit it out of bunker

Switched to the Bridgestone E12 Soft this year. I've always been pretty long with irons and this ball isn't a short ball. I definitely am getting a 1/2 club more on solid hits.

I think using a putter is short sighted.

Driver. Gives you yard advantage off the tee. And you can putt out of the fringe with it.

Hybrid. Variety of uses. Long par 3. In the rough. Chipping.

7 iron. Here’s the rub. I can putt lefty with my 7 iron. No need for a putter.

Pitching wedge. Obvious reasons.

Golf is yardage. And a driver and hybrid eat that up. Wedge and 7 iron manage you 150 in.

I played for first time this year a couple weeks ago. Took my travel bag. Noticed I had a 2I in it and used it on 2nd hole. Then I muttered to myself, "Why in hell do I still carry this thing?"

Yeah, but I can hit a putter left handed when I'm up against a tree.

Ask me how I know that...
